Irma Bokuchava and Vakhtang Sikharulishvili, Heads of the Supervision Department of the National Bank of Georgia, held a working meeting with the representatives of the microfinance organizations and lending entities of the Imereti region in Kutaisi.

During the meeting, participants summarized the results of the previous year and outlined future prospects. The discussion then shifted to a question-and-answer format, focusing on the sector's needs and challenges, as well as potential solutions.

The meeting placed special emphasis on enhancing the standard of compiling financial statements, reducing operational risks, and strengthening corporate governance. Additionally, sector representatives acknowledged the effectiveness of regulations implemented by the National Bank of Georgia. They expressed hope for continued meetings on topics such as consumer rights protection, lending standards, and money laundering issues.

"In recent years, the National Bank of Georgia's measures have notably bolstered the non-banking sector's sustainability, fostering its soundness and enhancing its reputation. This sector plays a crucial role in providing financial services to businesses and residents across Georgia's regions. With a growing customer base, the sector faces increased responsibility in protecting consumer rights. I believe the meeting was fruitful, especially in light of the request to convene similar meetings in the future to address various issues," remarked Irma Bokuchava.
