Due to the nature of the NBG's activities the information on money emission of different years, commemorative coins and other products issued by the Bank became available to public. Particularly worth pointing out is the program that the NBG initiated to revive numismatic activities in the country by popularizing jubilee coins minted under its aegis.
In 2006, the NBG minted two types (made of silver and nickel silver) of 2-lari coins dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Dinamo Tbilisi's victory in the European Cup Winners' Cup; two types of jubilee coins minted at the Polish Mint dedicated to the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline; and 1/10-, 1/4-, 1/2-, 1-, 5-, and 10-ounce gold investment coins (999.9 assay) with the image of the Golden Fleece, made at the Austrian Mint.
It was precisely due to the start of minting and selling of these coins that a new era started with respect to popularization of numismatic coins and jubilee coins in general, which was unambiguously proved by the volume of sales by the end-year.
